Guidance Mission Statement

The mission of the Western Wayne High School Guidance Department is to foster the career development, educational development, physical well-being and personal/social development of all students. Partnerships between counselors, parents, teachers, administrators, students and the community are vital to this mission.



About the Guidance Department

The guidance department is comprised of four guidance counselors and two clerical guidance assistants.  Mrs. Kromko is assigned to the 9th grade students. Mrs. Renee Chernin is assigned to our Special Needs students. Mrs. Chernin’s office is located in the main office area. Ms. Tagle and Mr. Totsky are assigned to the 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Ms. Tagle has the students with last names starting with A-L and Mr. Totsky has the students with the last name starting with M-Z. Mrs. Hollister and Mrs. Rizzi are the clerical guidance assistants.
The services provided through the Guidance Department include: individual counseling, small and large group guidance, character education, new student orientation, scheduling, assistance with post-secondary education, career development, college information (scholarships, financial aid, vocational programs, colleges, application processes, and other), and testing. Information on test schedules, volunteer work, working papers, selective service, CLEP testing, curriculum night, scholarship availability, financial aid and employment opportunities is provided to the student body on a regular basis by way of announcements, the publications SCHOLARSHIPS AND OPPORTUNITIES and CAREERLINE, and our web page.
