I really like the flexibility the guidance counselors have with scheduling and working with the students to prepare for their future, the music department and faculty there, the Spanish department and faculty there. I also really like that Western Wayne is adding more programs for students to be involved in (RYLA, TLT, science camps, etc.)
 (5%)

All teachers are knowledgeable and friendly, I feel like they are second parents to me. I love all of my classes and do pretty well in all of them. I love that there is a band program and I hope they keep it because it’s important to me.

Have the fashion program have the ability to have it's own classes instead of combined. Let fashion 2 students stay in one class instead of being split up

The school would be better if there were more electives offered and more emphasis on electives (music, foreign language, cooking, etc.) as future careers. There is a very high emphasis here on stem careers, which is excellent, but other programs deserve an equal amount of attention. Many students are deterred from attempting a foreign language because the online classes are much more difficult and less personal than in-class teachers. Other than that, I would recommend giving equal amounts of attention to students succeeding academically and talent-wise to those that are recognized for athletic achievements.

Teachers stop putting words in the students mouth when they didn't say it. The bullying is rediculous.

Maybe a few minutes of more time to get to and from other classes, especially for kids in 6th grade. I’m in crutches now and so are some of my friends, since we can’t actively go outside for recess it’s be nice to maybe have a couple board games or something to occupy us aside from just chatting. Lockers that are more central to classes would be helpful or even just having class schedules that are broken down so classes are closer together rather than running us around all over the place. Also, if we were able to maybe carry a small bag to carry books that’d be helpful but I know my mom says backpacks are a libility and that’s why we can’t.

 1. Learn how to use the heat and AC properly throughout the school 2. Hire teachers that actually teach 3. Apply the dress code to boys rather than singling out females

Less bullying and fake peers. I have the same teacher for all 4 years of HS because of my modified classes and IEP. I think there should be different levels of modified classes. I am honor roll and am in the same class as students with extra special needs and it's wrong and uncomfortable to go socialize when I leave that room.

Three things about Western Wayne School Experience that I would change to make our school a better place is for the sports team to not be so sexist for example when the football team in the beginning of the school said if any other GUY is wanting to try out for the football team please let the coaches know. Why cant a girl try out? Another thing I would change study island teachers gives these assignments online and expects us to be able to do it out of class some people don't have internet out of school and we need to be more school spirited

Warmer temperatures in classrooms, more well behaved students, no dress code.

Page thirteen of our student handbook states that “Students are prohibited from bringing any glass bottles to school due to safety concerns. Students are not permitted to have open drink containers in their lockers, with them in the hallways, or in classes unless they have a note, on file, with the school nurse, from a medical care professional, specifying their medical need to do so.” This statement confuses students. Every person has a medical need to drink water - health care professionals recommend that the average adult drink at least eight glasses of water a day. However, this goal would be nearly impossible to reach during the school day, and this fact impacts our learning drastically. Symptoms of mild dehydration include irritableness and lack of concentration - all without the victim feeling thirsty. In fact, a study done by Leeds University shows that a dehydration level of just 1-2% may affect a student’s performance in all subjects. Approximately 550 students attend our middle school. Is it fair to punish all of us for the actions of a small percentage of students? If water spills, it can easily be cleaned up, and if it is stressed to students to keep their water bottles tightly capped, spills will not happen. While water fountains are available, they aren’t convenient for students to access throughout the school day. Only one working water fountain is available on the second floor, and even then, a line gathers quickly and the water fountain itself is out of the way. Because of this, students are less likely to be able to drink the recommended amount of water during the school day. We understand that the school may face a liability if students were to carry alcoholic beverages in their water bottles. However, these students are breaking the law, and proper legal action can and should be taken against them. To prevent situations like this from happening in the first place, we suggest allowing only clear water bottles to be brought into the classroom. Students could opt to use the water fountains throughout the school day, but as mentioned before, only one of the second-story fountains work, and students are hardly given any opportunity to use it; not to mention that 500+ students using one water fountain isn’t very sanitary. As winter quickly approaches, the common cold and flu are rampant. All it takes is one sick person to infect the entire school, bringing down attendance records. Allowing students to carry their own water bottles would immediately bring down the chances of a cold or flu outbreak, which would increase attendance records significantly.

How to survive in the real world. I stopped learning cursive, can't sign a check or have any idea what to do in a real life emergency. I think we should be taught how to do simple cooking, simple car repairs and whatever a HS grad should know. Long division won't help me if I'm hungry or need to change a flat tire. We definitely need drivers education!
