Outstanding Seniors Recognized at April School Board Meeting

Elizabeth Warninger and Trisha Zintel were recently recognized at the school board meeting.

Lizzy, daughter of Bruce and Karen Warninger of South Canaan, has served as class treasurer for three years and Student Council treasurer this year. Active in the National Honor Society, Tobacco Free Youth, chorus, theater, prom committee, and placing 2nd for Global Business at the regional level in FBLA, Lizzy also played varsity tennis for four years, qualifying for Districts in her junior and senior year. She will perform in her third school play, “Anything Goes,” on April 30, and May 1-2. She plans to attend Bloomsburg University to major in psychology.

Trisha, daughter of Brian and Donna Zintel of Waymart, is vice president of the National Art Honor Society, organizing the upcoming Art for Animals project. Trisha has won awards in the high school art show and Silver Keys in the Scholastic Art Awards (2008 and 2009). She also has participated in the summer Arts Alive program sponsored by NEIU 19. Trisha is currently designing the cover for the school’s literary magazine and t-shirts for Western Wayne’s teams participating in the May 4 Reading Competition to be held at the high school. As part of her senior project, she volunteered as a teacher aide at the Lake Elementary School and currently serves as a lab tech in the high school science department. She will combine her artistic talent and her love of science as she pursues a degree in medical illustration at Arcadia College.
