Sarah Hammond and Wade Henshaw were recognized as outstanding seniors at the May school board meeting.
Sarah Hammond, daughter of Teresa and Arden Hammond of Lake Ariel, a three-year National Honor Society member, has taken advantage of numerous advanced classes including AP English Language and Composition, AP Spanish, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus. In addition to her academics, she has been an active member of band, Tobacco Free Youth/SADD, the reading team, and the archery league for four years. Sarah has served has the band historian for the past two years. She will attend Penn State Worthington majoring in chemical education.
Wade Henshaw, son of Michael Henshaw and Wendy Brown, and a two-year National Honor Society member, has taken AP English Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Calculus, and AP U.S. Government. A member of FBLA, Wade placed second at the regional level in business calculations and sixth at the state level. Wade served as captain of the freshman football team and has played baseball all four years of high school. In addition to community service activities through NHS, Wade has been involved with the Open Door Café and the Waymart Historical Society. He plans to attend Penn State University Harrisburg to study Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.
