March's Outstanding Seniors 

Outstanding Seniors Recognized at March School Board Meeting

Denny Guo and Thomas Christopher thanked their parents, teachers, and the school district for supporting them in their endeavors.

Denny Guo is the son of Steven Guo and Ting Yuan of Lake Ariel.

Denny maintains a challenging academic schedule which includes four Advanced Placement courses: English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Physics, and American Government and Politics. He is ranked 7th in his class.

Denny is involved in many extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, SADD, and FBLA for three years. He has played trumpet in the band for two years, and is a member of this year’s Scholastic Team. He is also a member of the Envirothon team. For his senior project, he renovated a kiosk and landscaped an area at the Lacawac Sanctuary, hauling away over 15 truckloads of Japanese barberry, an invasive plant. As a member of the school’s tennis team for three years, Denny was award Rookie of the Year in 2010 and received the MVP award in 2011. He also served as team captain.

Denny has been a Boy Scout for eight years and recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for one year and an instructor for three years.

His goal is to attend Penn State University main campus to earn a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and to eventually start his own business.

 

Thomas is the son of Diane Christopher and the late Thomas Christopher.  Tom maintains a challenging academic schedule which includes four Advanced Placement courses: Spanish, English Literature and Composition, Calculus, and American Government and Politics. He consistently ranks in the top 10 of his class and attains the Distinguished Honor Roll.

A dedicated musician, Tom plays trombone in the marching, jazz, and concert band and played in the pit orchestra for the musical “Anything Goes”. He has represented the school at District, County, and Regional Band and is currently an alternate for State Band. He is also an alternate for Regional Orchestra. Through his private piano lessons, Tom has been a member of the National Piano Playing Auditions for 10 years and has received the Paderewski Award.

Tom has also been a member of the school’s Reading Competition for three years as well as a three-year member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Water Ambassador group during his sophomore year advised by science teacher, Mrs. Shirley Motyka.

He will attend either Marywood University or the University of Scranton for degree in biochemistry and later attend medical school.
