Only 200 of the 1000 artworks submitted by school districts in a five-county area were selected for display at Marywood University in the annual Scholastic Art Competition. As usual, Western Wayne earned accolades. The artwork is judged by three panels consisting of educators and art professionals.
Twelve Western Wayne High School art students earned 12 Certificates of Merit; 14 Silver Key Awards, symbolic of regional excellence, and 11 Gold Key Awards, which advance to national competition in New York City. Seniors Paula Strada and Trisha Zintel submitted the only two 2D portfolios selected for display from among 20 entered into the competition. The only Gold Key Portfolio in the show selected to go on to New York for national competition belonged to senior Phoebe Olsommer; she is eligible for a scholarship award.
