As part of the Region 2 PA Junior Academy of Science competition, high school junior
Kristen Lopatofsky was awarded one of four fellowships to
The Commonwealth Medical College, entitling her to two full days this summer at TCMC working with faculty and staff on cutting edge medical research and learning about life in medical school. Kristen wrote a 500-word essay answering the question “If you were a medical scientist today, what would you study and why?” and was interviewed by faculty and staff from TCMC. In her essay, Kristen discussed why she would study diabetes and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (formerly known as “preleukemia”); both diseases have affected her family.
